japanese eggplant

Went to our local farmers market today (suburban Boston area) and saw some great looking small very thin light purple eggplant. I think they are called japanese eggplant?? As i said they are thin, maybe 1 inch or so in diameter, have a very light purplish color, are about 8-10 inches in length, and curve around a bit. The grower suggested cutting on the bias about 1 1/2 inches long and stir frying them to cook. Any other suggestions from this site would be appreciated. These things look pretty funky, according to my wife!!!
