On a recent trip to Japan, I was re-introduced to a dessert I remember from my distant childhood. It's served in a goblet and consists of a small scoop of vanilla ice cream, a small scoop of sweet red beans, and small bits of mochi sitting atop a mound of clear, sweet gelatin cubes. A container of a maple-like syrup is served alongside.
First of all, what is this dessert called? More importantly, is there anywhere in the Bay Area this is served?
