I am going to Japan this coming March for the first time and I am so excited. I love Japanese food and would like to try what I have had in the states while I am in Japan: Kobe beef, grilled meat and organs, sushi, sashimi, udon, and ramen ( omakase, keiseki types). I will be there for 10 days and plan on visiting Tokyo ( flight in and out from Narita), Kyoto, and Osaka.

I'd like to make this trip a food and culture trip, not so much sight-seeings. I like to eat, sleep, and be Japanese for those days. With that being said I like to focus the time I have on food, shopping, special, unique events thing you can't do in the States or anywhere else. I want to stay at the Japanese hot spring resort for a night or two, maybe in Kyoto or Osaka. Like to visit Geisha districts to see their show and sumo, etc.

Please help me with where to stay, where to eat, how to get around (subway, taxi, walking), ways to book for the popular restaurants (hotel concierge or Amex platinum), places to go, and your two-cents tips.

Thank you very much for your input.
