After a little advice on a weekend trip to your city at the end of January. We fly into CdG at 12pm on Friday and depart around the same time on Sunday.
Its just me and my wife, from London. We are staying in Le Marais towards the 11th and are booked into Septime and Clown Bar for the Friday/Saturday nights
Last time we were in the city (a couple years ago) the stand outs for us were Pierre Sang (Oberkampf) and Clamato. Also quite enjoyed Bones and Le Richer.
- Is Septime a good choice? Have read some mixed reviews of recently. We aren't after a 'Top 50 Restaurants in the World' experience, just good sincere food, nice service and fun atmosphere so don't have unrealistic expectations that perhaps others have had.
- Thoughts on Clown Bar? Was debating between this, Au Passage and perhaps Le Galopin. Any thoughts? Any other new places making waves we should look into?
- I think unfortunately we will be too tight on time on the Friday from the airport to have a proper lunch (had my heart set on Le Servan originally but I think the potential rush could detract from the enjoyment) but any recommendations for something around Le Marais that would facilitate a short, potentially late, bit of grazing?
- Saturday lunch - would love something informal, either central or around the 11th and in a similar vein to Clamato or Pierre Sang (i.e. mid priced, bistronomy style, youngish crowd, fun atmosphere, not stuffy) though trying to avoid the temptation of repeating these..
Final kicker is that my wife is pregnant and we both have pretty limited French language skills so we are aiming for places that would hopefully be accommodating of some dietary requirements (unfort no rare meat/raw shellfish etc) from ignorant English speakers without making us feel too awkward..
Any advice greatly appreciated, thank you!
