The Janitzio Mexican restaurant had been located in that kinda scruffy shopping center on Spartanburg Hwy that is across from Harris Teeter, and simply because of it's location my wife and I never tried it. But recently it moved up the highway to #1053 and there was an article about it in the H'ville paper in which the owner said that he liked to cook the same type of food that he grew up with in Mexico. That intrigued us so we tried it and have gone back twice. The food is simple, excellent, plentiful and cheap. The menu is huge, the service is excellent and the place is incredibly spacious, much more so than either El Paso or Papas and Beer. And an indicator of the authenticity of the food is that at lunch time Janitzio draws in a large crowd of local Hispanic laborers.
