We ate dinner at Jamila's yesterday evening. I had the mussels in a pretty rich, very oniony, broth for a starter and Frank countered with the escargot in butter and oil, garlic and parsley. I had the old reliable Lamb Tajine (cooked in a terra cotta dish wth potatoes and onions) with saffrona nd almond rice and he had the Mixed Grill, which came with the rice on the side as well.
The Mixed Grill included a lamb kebab (nice sized chunks of lamb and peices of various peppers), grilled lamb sausage and a piece of grilled chicken breast.
Frank chose an inexpensive Cotes du Rhone to accompany our repast and all was well.
I've always wanted to dine at Jamila's while the bely damcer was performing on Saturday night but I've never made it.
For tonight's dinner I have several nice fillets of drum fish from last weekend's foray to Pass Christian and am going to try it in parchment (en papilotte) with a rich sauce that I have to get cracking on before Frank gets back from his bike ride and opens a bottle of wine.
Tomorrow I'm taking Jen and two of her roomates to lunch. They prefer Bravo's to MY suggestions.
