The list of semifinalists is out for this year.

Gotta thank greyelf for talking about Coquine before word got out (I think this is their 2nd year in a row to be nominated). She and stevewi have kept this part of the board alive.

Was at Han Oak last year. Enjoyed the food, but the chef said he was thinking of changing the format. Don't know if that has happened, but good to hear people still think well of his food. Ha VL is also great, and its nice that the awards recognize that good food doesn't have to be high end. Earl Ninsom also got a nomination for restraunteur; was able to eat at Langbaan on my visit 2 years ago, but wasn't last year . . . didn't realize you had to make reservations about 9 months before!

Did happy hour at Departure last year. Wasn't impressed. Overpriced asian food, IMHO. If you have a decent sized asian population wherever you live, you can get similar food at a much more reasonable price.

Also ate at Cafe Castagna 2 years ago. Wasn't impressed, but Justin Woodward keeps getting nominations for his work at Castagna. May have to splurge and go there for the prix fixe dinner to see if it lives up to the reputation.
