Jai-ya Thai (3rd Ave & 28th)

I've been wondering about this place, ever since I moved to the nabe (about 6 months ago), and I finally stopped in for dinner, last night.

EXCELLENT. The place is clean & pleasant, for dining in, and the food was clearly made-to-order, since we had about a 15-minute wait after ordering.

I had the pork in curry paste with green beans and my boyfriend had the chicken in yellow curry with scallions. Both of us ordered our dishes "spicy" and they were just that . . . My lips were still tingling, an hour after I finished eating.

The pork & chicken were tender, flavorful, and served in big enough portions to share. The veggies were bright, fresh, and crisp (the way we like them). The spices were clear to the taste (my dish rang out with Thai black basil) and both entrees were perfectly seasoned (not under or oversalted).

Prices are fair - both entrees were $9.95 - and service was attentive & courteous.
