Thanks to LA chowhounders for dinner tips on the West Coast. Saturday night at 5 Dudley was inspired. Great Venice scene and close to WD-50 experience in New York. Not everything works but when it does it was great. Highlights of meal were GREAT SOUPS. - Onion - rich chewy with wonderful stock (veal based?) and very good squash soup. Caesar salad was fun. Roast chicken very successful - with perfumed roasting. Meat dish (braised lamb, filet, steak ) over wasabi mashed potatoes - . Seafood appetizer didn't work for me but elements were great. Bay scallops overpowered by white sardines and dill. Perhaps better with just sea scallop and sardines. - very clean. Also fun to sea non-napa wine list.
Sunday was Josie which also served as advertised. We kept it simple with Halibut - and Sea bass - both superb with great roasted vegetable accompaniment
thanks again for all who advised
