Jacques-Imos Service (or lack thereof)

Honestly, with service this poor, I’d be a fool to ever return.

I arrived around 4:30pm and sat at the bar while waiting for some friends. There were only a few other people at the bar and I sat there for the better part of ten minutes before I finally had to shout, “can I get a beer?” (the shouting wasn’t because it was noisy…it was simply because the bar tender who was 6 inches away was ignoring me).

When my friends arrived, I moved over to the entry and once again, we stood there with baby in stroller (not my baby) for several minutes being completely ignored. Finally, as if we were expecting the world, we were asked if we’d been helped yet. When we asked for a table, we were told we’d arrived between brunch and dinner and we could wait at the bar until 5:15pm. With baby in stroller, this wasn’t the best option so we asked if we could at least wait at a table. We were offered a table right in front of the entry…again, not the best solution with a six month old. After pulling teeth, we were given a less drafty table. We had to pull more teeth to get menus and didn’t get served until 5:30pm.

Yes, the cheesecake was excellent, but my duck breast was chewy and unremarkable. Throughout the entire ordeal, the only hint of an apology came when the entire table was offered a small plate of cold Jambalaya on the house (to share) for having to wait. The entire time we were there, I felt we were being treated as if we were a nuisance.

Well, if we were a nuisance, I have a solution. I’ll never go back.
