Last night we found ourselves near Evanston, so we went to Jacky's Bistro. Jacky Pluton is no longer the owner, and we wanted to see if it was as good as it used to be - well, we thought it was better!
We started with the mussels and the house pate and charcuterie. The mussels were a generous portion in a delicious, garlicky broth. The pate and charcuterie plate was a generous serving of three things (one of which was rilettes, and then there was a rough country pate, and some sort of terrine with a dense texture, also a slice of prosciutto. Everything was great.
For entrees we had the striped bass on Israeli cous-cous, and the scallops on a corn risotto (I believe these descriptions are more-or-less correct). Both seafood dishes were very, very good. We finished off by sharing a banana brioche pudding.
This is one of the prettiest rooms around - very romantic. It's nice to know that the food is even better than ever.
