New Jackson Cafe: more cheap "sai chan" for Chinatown

Gary Soup | Aug 19, 200511:41 AM     5

Just noticed this morning that 640 Jackson St., once home to the beloved Jackson Cafe and most recently the somewhat pretentious Sterling Ruby, has suddenly transmogrified into "New Jackson Cafe." The menu features the peculiar Hong Kong roster of "western" dishes known as "sai chan" including Russian Borsch [sic] and Ovaltine. You might find what you are jonesing for there, from Dry Beef Chow Fun to Escargots Bordelaise. The prices are low, including fish and chips for $3.25.
