A while back, Tina Barry posted on here about Jack's on Fifth Ave in Park Slope (near 13th, I believe). I ate there a couple weeks ago and found it to be quite good. The entree prices seem high for the decor, but once you start eating, you feel differently. The food quality is great. I had a delicious, generous piece of pan-fried fish (don't remember what it was), with some great broccoli and mashed potatoes on the side. The portions at the table across from me looked huge, giant plates of fried chicken and meatloaf. As you can guess, it's basically down-home American cooking at slightly higher prices than you might think is worth it, but I think people should try it out. I feel bad for the owner, because the place is often deserted, and I chalk this up to the decor. If this place was on 7th, it would be mobbed.
