Jackie's and Vicino

I went to Jackie’s on Wednesday night with one adult woman and a five-year old. The adult had the seafood combination appetizer which she thought was tasty but on the small side. I had the riblets in a decent sized portion, which I thought were excellent. The adult had the duck entrée, which she thought was rather bland. I had the special fried chicken, which I felt was moist and the way I like it, and a decent-sized portion with potato salad alongside. I also had the Chimay beer. The child had the Elvis burger that she liked and she ordered French fries, although they were not on the menu, they were prepared for her.

So the food was fine but there were problems with the service. The kid wanted Sprite and the waitress brought orange juice that she claimed she had heard us order. The child ate only one of the burgers and we asked the waitress to brown bag it. When it didn’t come, the waitress said she thought that we wanted it tossed. We explained this to the manager who said it was no problem and they cooked up one burger and fries to go.

So the food was fine and we would go again for it. The atmosphere was excellent and we all enjoyed the funky style. The service needs improvement but the management is clearly on the ball and deserves encouragement.

Question: there is an Italian restaurant, Vicino, across the street that looks like a typical Northern Italian restaurant but I’d never heard of it before. Does anyone have any experience with it?
