Izakaya Sakura - Again

Gypsy Jan | Jan 7, 200807:36 PM

There have been many posts on this board and on KirkK's consistently valuable and informative blog about Izakay Sakura.

I'm just a simple gaijin who owns an elderly Infiniti.

Kearny Mesa Infiniti is about one mile north of Izakay Sakura on Convoy Street.

By the time I have taken care of the details with the dealer, I am ready...no, desperate for a good meal and Izakaya Sakura is just down the road.

In the last two months, I have eaten there four times, and every meal was sublime. I am addicted to the Chirashi, but when Sakurasan is not there and sushi is not available, I order the soup bowl of seaweed, uni and salmon eggs (sorry, I don't remember the proper name).

The wait people (ick, dislike PC) are uniformly welcoming and accomodating; confirming that they have the order right, refilling the tea and checking to see if everything is OK.

The food and welcoming atmosphere give me the energy to make the eighty mile drive home.
