Izakaya/karaoke bars to go to solo?

StephanieR | Oct 31, 200407:53 PM     2

No, I don't want to sing to myself in a private booth all night.... Just moved here and most of my work friends seem not too interested in this.

In HK and Japan went to a few places that were small bars with food, seating about 30, with karaoke right there in the main eating/drinking area.

Anything comparable here in NYC? Midtown preferred but will go d/t or elsewhere also. Browsed the other posts and Eric's great list, but unsure where to go for laughter and singing.
