Ivy...Already Over It

Went to Ivy last night after trying to go last weekend. Got a 7:30pm reservation via Open Table.

The place was semi-empty when we arrived but due to two very large parties seated upstairs, the noise was already deafening. We, unfortunately, got seated upstairs near them.

Our waiter was great- very friendly and gave great rec's...that said, the floor was WAY understaffed...so we often sat with empty glasses or unattended.

We ordered ceasar salad (for two), butcher's block anti pasta plate, the goat cheese/fontina fondue and the mac & cheese with black truffles:

Unfortunately, had to send the mac & cheese back several times as it arrived cold...2 times. It was good- but Teatro and certainly Silvertone's is much, much better (incidentally, it was not until the third time did they mention they'd take it off the bill) The salad was fine- sort of difficult to mess that up...but croutons were not properly toasted...so bread was soggy. The fondue was, by far, the best part...perfect temp, great grilled bread to dip and the consistency was right on.

The dining room was so loud when we left that we could barely hear each other...thanks to 2 bachelorette parties. That's the signal for me that a restaurant should be crossed off the list: girls in veils, drunk and shreiking in the dining room. No thanks.

Probably good place for a cocktail...And then move on.
