I finally got into Ivo & Lulu this weekend because we arrived early and snagged a small table for 3. I can see that they can get very busy! The food was great for the price. Where else can you get duck for $15 in Manhattan! I had the duck breast which was in a citrus sauce flavored with Caribbean spices (allspice and nutmeg?) and my friends had the confit and checken breast. Both were also in delicious Caribbean spiced sauces. We really enjoyed out main courses.
The starters were also good but I really liked the pheasant pate. I've never remember seeing pheasant on a menu in Manhattan before. Once again it was jazzed up with caribbean spices.
I have to say the desserts were pretty bad, do they need a pastry chef? We ordered the Chocolate Gateau and it was a dry piece of cake in creamy sauce dusted with powdered sugar. zzzzzzzzzzzz
I also love the BYOB policy... but no wineglasses?
