Looking for Non-Little-Italy-Type Place in or Near Little Italy

Gregg | Oct 27, 2003 03:55 PM

I have guests coming into town, some of which acknowledge my aversion to Little Italy and the ubiquitous red-checkered tablecloth joints that roll out lousy, cheese-smothered food. Some others in the group -- to whom we are primarily catering -- don't give a damn about me. Anyway, I'm looking for a place that can satisfy all concerned, one that is located proximately to Mulberry Street (preferably off it) but offers fresh, quality, not-too-ambitious Italian food. I'd rather not go to Peasant (too expensive). I'm thinking of something like Quartino but in the LI vicinity. I'm kind of stumped.

Thanks in advance!

Gregg
