Italy for First Timers*

cincodemayo1 | Nov 3, 201702:15 PM

Heading to Italy for 10 days on Nov. 21. First time for me, and second time for my wife who hasn't been there in about 20 years.

We're starting in Venice for a couple days, then off to Bologna (or Modena) for 2 days, Florence for another 3 days and ending in Rome for 3 days.

Would love suggestions on where to eat/drink. Price-wise, we're flexible, but ideally looking to spend around $50 total for 2 people at lunch, $100-150 total for 2 people for dinner, and possibly a bit more for a must splurge – or if a table becomes available at Osteria Francescana. Any type of food is good with us. We love seafood but obviously want to indulge in pastas and traditional dishes from each region.

Planning on doing the touristy parma/proscuitto/balsamic tour while in Bologna, but would love suggestions on other food tours and cooking classes if anyone has suggestions.

And if we only have one dinner in Venice, is CoVino a good option? Or would something more traditional be smarter?

Any thoughts on bypassing Bologna altogether and just staying in Modena? We're on the fence.

Also, if it matters we probably won't be renting a car, so hopefully most suggestions are accessible by walking or train.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions and let me know if you need more details.
