Little Italy recs for a Boston chowhound

Hi guys,

WAIT, WAIT WAIT! Before completely write me off as a tourist that doesn't know any better and isn't up for exploring all the great restaurants throughout the city, let me just say that it is not my choice --I am with a group of about 5 I think, and unfortunately the decision has been made to go to Little Italy.

HOWEVER, I have a feeling there is no spot picked out, it's just "let's go to Little Italy this Friday night and find somewhere"...and while I am all for being adventurous and trying something new, I also have a limited number of meals for my NYC weekend and really am hoping to have good experiences at each of them.

That all being said, any recs for Little Italy??? Either places we could walk into on a Fri night and have a decent meal -- or spots that are worth a trip that might require a reservation --I think I can get away with that, with this group.

I know Lombardo's has great pizza, but I don't think this crew wants pizza. I think they're looking for traditional Italo-American fare --pasta, red sauce, chicken marsala and the like.

Any suggestions, recs, thoughts appreciated. TIA.
