Italian Xmas memories

We used to have these pastry "turnovers" on Christmas Eve that were more savory than sweet. I think they were filled with ricotta? OMG they were good but my mother and aunts can't remember what they were called or how we made them. I think we called them "frogs" for short -- but don't really remember. My dad's family is Calabrese and my mom's is Sicilian. Anyone have any ideas?
