It's that wonderful time of the year that I'm able to have sun-kissed tomatoes direct from "mother earth" rather than the "gas houses"! I've been feasting on them in every conceivable way for the past three or four weeks now and have used them both old and new recipes.
Perhaps my all-time favorite way of eating them is in an Italian-style tomato salad my mother used to make almoat every day during the summer months. Her recipe includes tomatoes, onions, green bell pepper, garlic, basil. oregano, olive oil, and salt.
I know as many variations of this salad exist in Italian households as that of "Sunday gravy"; Which leads me to the question of "how does your family prepare this salad?" Vinegar? Bread? Hot peppers?
Help me widen my horizons!
