Help with Italian and Steaks Advice in DC

teejaymoore | Mar 17, 2008 01:39 PM

I'm bringing my 75 year old father to DC for a weekend of sightseeing. We're staying near the whitehouse. I'm trying to find a good steak place and also a good Italian place for dinner.

Steaks - looking for really good steaks and sides.

Italian - looking for more old fashion red sauce Italian rather than Northern since my father prefers that type of food (he's a basic guy and not up for "fancy" food.

Some advice I have heard to date (appreciate any editorial comments on them and/or other recommendations). Price isn't really a concern:

Steaks - Occidental, BLT and Capital Grille (typically, I don't think Capital Grille's are very good in my experience).

Italian - Spezie, Tosca or there's also a small Italian the hotel is recommending near the Marine Barracks (we're hitting the Marine Corps Evening Parade one evening).

Thanks for the advice as always.
