Okay folks, I can use some more thougfhts here.
On Saturday I have a friend coming in to Philly. He's writing a book on pop and Rock music of the early to mid 1960s (Bobby Rydell, Dovells, Frankie Avalon etc.). Definitely doing Italian Market for day but want South Philly Italian for dinner. He'll be here with wife and 1 1/2 year old son. All are vegetarians but they find italian a favorite. There will be 6 of us total. Obviously I'll need a reservation.
Prefer a BYOB - which keeps costs down - though that's not essential. What is essential is that we be able to at least hold a conversation among the 6 of us. The more 60s style the better. I want someting moderately price that will fill the vegetarian requirement (marinari sauce or other meatless sauces.)Also it must have a non-smoking section that is observed unlike a few restaurants which have exceptions for regular smoking customers).
Ralph's would be a choice except for the noise. I know there are some old standards I've forgotten about.
So, please throw out your ideas to me in next couple of days so I can reserve.
