Italian market in Triangle?

pauldudenhefer | Jun 10, 2011 10:08 AM

Last weekend I visited Providence, Rhode Island, which has an Italian section of town with no fewer than three outstanding Italian markets. Those markets offered a large selection of prepared foods (lasagna, eggplant parm, stuffed clams, et al.), fresh pasta, olives (as in a dozen different kinds), cheeses, and lunch meats. They had lots of canned goods and other comestibles, and they each had a sandwich bar where one could order any number of sandwiches, all made to order. Is there a market like the one I'm describing in the Triangle? There are of course places that offer some of what I've described--Piazza Italia in Durham, for example; there are even places that may offer all that I've described, but operate as a more general market (Southern Season, for instance). But is there a specifically *Italian* market that offers the whole package?
