Italian Beef(s) and Maxwell Street Polish(es)

John | Jun 18, 2003 03:44 PM

Chicago guy in Brooklyn needs to know where in New York City (or 5 boroughs) you can get a real Italian beef sandwich. I know there are Chicago-style sandwich shops out west (e.g., Denver has Fontano's Sub Store that also serves real Italian Beef) but I've found no such animal in NYC or nearby. Please help if you know.

A semantic debate I'm having with other ex-Chicago natives in NYC is the proper pluralizaion of sandwiches.

If you are hungry, you order AN Italian Beef. If you are very hungry, do you order two Italian Beef or two Italian Beefs?

Same question applies to Polish. Do you order two Polish or two Polishes.

I'll be checking back.

Thanks for attending to these important issues.
