Well, after yesterday's visit, I can report that ISS has changed, though not necessarily improved, their service.
NEW procedure, at least as of yesterday, seems to be:
They've now got their "steam table/cafteria" set-up set up, but orders are still being taken at the cash register, which means that if you order one of the dinner combos, for instance, your order gets taken, and any request for kitchen stuff (masala dosa) goes back.
AND THEN nobody will tell you, but:
you should take your bill, (if you are getting some of the vege./dal/rice stuff) and get in line for/give it to, the lady who (sporadically) staffs the steam table, and walk her through what you want from her, and receive it.
YOU MAY ALSO then wish to inquire as to the whereabouts of your dosa, etc.,; my impression is that my inquiry resulted in the discovery of mis-communication between the various staff (I speak no Urdu/Bengali/???, but the conversation resulting sounded remarkably like it was something like "I thought YOU were getting it..." "Well, I thought YOU were getting it!" "You mean you didn't tell HIM to get it!?")which was, admittedly, quickly remedied.
Per Thi, it apparently helps to be pushy.
