ISO Vietnamese Shredded Carrot Soup

David Kahn | Dec 5, 200404:05 PM

Was up in the Bay Area yesterday, and got taken out to lunch at a Vietnamese restaurant in downtown Oakland called Le Cheval. (Their card says the url for their website is, but I can't get it to work.) Everything was good, but as soon as we sat down, we were given a small half bowl of some sort of thick carrot soup which was absolutely awesome. Had lots of shredded cooked carrots and pieces of cooked onion, with the color and texture (but not the flavor) of curry. Was slightly sweet, and very rich, and tasted perfect.

So, does anyone know what this soup is called and/or where it can be found in So Cal? This stuff was awesome, and I'd love to find it somewhere closer than Oakland.
