Haven't found a great tyrokefteri in a while. My last order at Megas was ok, but I'm sure there must be a better version out there.
Also haven't found a great version of spanakopita lately- with crisp, buttery filo, lots of spinach filling (more spinach filling than filo), not too heavy on the feta. In the past, I've had a good versions of spanakopita at Pan and Kalyvia, but I haven't ordered it at either place recently. Not a huge fan of the popular Athens Pastries' version, which is flatter and contains more feta than my ideal type of spanakopita. While the Akropolis Pastries ' snail-shaped version is ok, I'm looking for a spanakopita that's more buttery, and has a higher filling:filo ratio.
Best avgolemono soup I've found is at Zorba's, but I'd like to hear about any other recs. Would be nice to have a place with slightly nicer ambiance when I'm not in the mood for the atmosphere at Zorba's.
The best dolmades I've found in the last year or so have been at Pan and Kalyvia. Have you found any good versions elsewhere lately?
So far, the best pikilias (combo appetizer platter including dips, maybe spanakopita, maybe loukaniko sausage, maybe meatballs, maybe dolmades, etc) have been at Kalyvia and Megas. Which other pikilia would you recommend?
Thanks for any of your suggestions.
