ISO trendy, yummy South End spot

A couple of girlfriends and I are looking for a restaurant with good food and a lively scene, preferably in the South End. (We want to hit the Butcher Shop for a drink afterwards.) Can anyone recommend a place meeting these specs that either takes reservations, or where the wait at prime time on a weekend evening is usually under 30 minutes? Places that look intriguing to us are Pho Republique, Dish, Nightingale, and the Claremont Cafe, but I don't know which of them takes reservations or has long waits. I would appreciate comments on these or suggestions of other places. Thanks in advance!
