Once upon a time there was great Chinese restaurant on Broadview-- and that eventually moved around the corner onto Gerrard -- called "Beijing House". (It might have started out as "Chan's" or something similar. My memory is hazy.)

They made what was probably the best soup I've ever tasted, their "Spicy Beef Vermicelli Soup". This one had beef, glass/cellophane vermicelli noodles, some green onions, (maybe some mushrooms,) and pickled greens, all in a very dark beef broth -- dark likely from soy sauce, but it could have been from something else (five-spice?).

I haven't found it anywhere else since, and the restaurant closed a long, long time ago. (sigh)

Anyone recall this wonder of the culinary arts, and know of anywhere that might make something similar?

Thanks so much in advance.
