We have a reservation for some music at Lincoln Center on a Thursday and we are looking for suggestions for a dinner early enough to get us there by 8:45 to 9.
As I recall, the dining spots close to Lincoln Center are not brilliant. So the better option is someplace on a subway or bus line convenient for Lincoln Center. Probably something Greek, Turkish, Spanish (broadly Mediterranean), but not Italian, in the mid to low price range. The preference would be a place that offers unusual options, with an emphasis on light vegetarian-friendly fare. Nothing wrong with fish and lamb as well, but the vegie options should be a strength of the place.
I hope that is specific enough to generate some ideas.
Edited to add:
By low to medium price range, I mean around 25/30 per person for food, informal atmosphere, perhaps lunch counter ambiance, probably no table cloths.
Molyvos is probably too formal and expensive and Kashkaval probably has too much cheese and not enough veggies.
While the preference is probably Mediterranean, ideally Turkish, other ethnic cuisines could be suggested as long as not Chinese or Thai/Laotian.
Redeye is not the kind of place to be considered, particularly since the menu on the website
omits prices, reason enough to boycott the place on principle.
What about Snack Taverna on Bedford St. near the Number 1 train in the West Village, about half an hour from Lincoln Center?
