In the thread ragging Brent's pickles, mentioned Nate & Al's had decent half-sours & pickled green tomatoes IMHO.
Call me weird but for me the pickles are 25% or more of the deli experience (at least in the linear sense), although arguably the deli experience trends non-linear, with the whole (great pickles, sides, breads, mustards & meats in one sitting) so much greater than the sum of the parts.
Which got me thinking, who in LA actually has the best NY style barrel cured pickles, green tomatoes & sauerkraut? Not to mention the heavenly harmonic convergence of great pickles, sides, breads, mustards & meats about which we mere mortals perhaps can only dream.
