ISO interesting food for celebratory dinner in OC

Joy | Mar 27, 200611:52 AM

I have such cause for celebrating I'll share it with the world -- not only was my dangerous surgery a success (cancer be gone!) but I can finally eat Real Food again after all that hospital and recovery time. Hooray!

I want to go somewhere new with my honey to celebrate. Not necessarily fancy or fine -- and definitely not snotty -- but interesting, fun, preferably exotic, but most especially, really delicious food. I'm thinking a price range around $40-60 per person, not including wine or tip, although more would be possible. I still can't travel far, so Irvine or nearby is preferred (Costa Mesa, Newport Beach, Tustin, Laguna Beach, Corona Del Mar). Only food restriction is that fish and seafood are still turning my stomach (hopefully that side effect will fade soon). I was thinking about trying Mozambique -- any comments? Any other ideas? What dishes would you recommend as especially exquisite?

Thanks in advance!
