I have searched this board quite a bit and found Chicago Mike's great pizza safari reports, but I need a somewhat more specific recommendation.
A foreign friend wants to visit a pizza place in Manhattan for a sit-down meal. Not looking for the "real NYC" experience with fluorescent lights and greasy counters, perhaps something a bit more "civilized". And yes it has to be Manhattan.
All I know are some so-so places, Brooklyn being my borough of pizza choice as well as residence. But she wants to do it tonight, and in Manhattan, and as a sit-down meal.
Can you recommend any place? It doesn't have to be amazing (won't be, I know) but good to v. good would be appreciated. I know people feel divided on Grimaldi's. What else? How's the pizza at Otto, and is it very loud in there?
Oh and preferably south of midtown.
