ISO a really good Manhattan Clam Chowder

For the most part I've avoided this tomato based style since my earlier experiences were so disappointing, i.e. thin and acidic with canned clams thrown into an otherwise bland tomato soup. Unfortunately I can't recall where (or even when), but a couple of years ago I came across it on a menu and thought I'd give it another shot. It was a fantastic version, perhaps with a little cream added, loads of flavor and great clams.

Has anyone run across something like this anywhere in CA? Doesn't seem to appear on too many menus. I'll post this to the SF board as well to cover the Bay and wine country. TIA
