ISO fresh (or frozen) field peas/beans

B.C. (inc. Vancouver) Black-Eyed Peas Lima Beans Peas

I'm having a hard time finding any info about fresh field peas in Vancouver, or the NW in general. I don't mean green sweet peas, but rather fresh cream peas or crowders, black eyed peas, pink eyes, lady peas, or fresh lima/butter beans. They're widely available in the southern US this time of year. Maybe it doesn't get hot enough here, but so many summer veggies grow wonderfully here in greenhouses. I'll settle for frozen, but I've had no luck there either...

Hi. There are several places that you can mail order various types of field peas (they are frozen and somewhat expensive). Also, in some Walmarts you can find frozen pink eyes in the Pictsweet brand and some carry canned field peas of various brands.

Also, there is a brand that I found called freshfrozenfoods.com that markets frozen vegetables to some grocery chains. When I traveled south, I found some at a Piggly Wiggly. You might be able to get a local grocery to order from them for you.

As I live in the Seattle area, but was born and raised in the south, I too would love some fresh peas!

I am originally from Florida. I have been here 29 years and I have yet to find any Crowder peas, Field peas, Cow, or Pigeon peas. I do know that Safeway carries Fordhook Limas, which are my favorite Lima bean. I buy them every week and I always have them in the freezer. I also buy frozen black-eyed peas at Safeway or QFC. Hope this helps!
