Help! ISO creative serving strategies for extremely rich, extremely sweet walnut pie

Have just made the Bittman's walnut pie. Haven't had the finished result yet -- but from sampling have a sense that this is going to be an incredibly rich, incredibly sweet dessert -- in danger of being way too much. (Perhaps should have suspected this given that pie filling is one and a half cups sugar, half a cup cream, half a cup butter and 2.5 cups walnuts and yes, JaonN you did try and warn me... ahhh). Anyway, it's made now so now I'm trying to think of serving strategies to make the most of this endeavor:
- best ice cream to counteract sweetness. (Store-bought as don't have ice-cream maker or time for other). Vanilla seems the obvious choice. But is there something better? Not sure this will be enough...
- Anything else to serve with?
- Obviously portion control will be very important.

Any other ideas?
