I posted this on the DC board to get local ideas on sources, but I wanted to check with the General Topics crowd for broader thoughts on how to accomplish Christmas dinner for a three-year-old and a diabetic grandma at the end of a few-hours drive.
So far I've thought of roasted game hens. That's it. Well maybe a capon or a little bitty turkey but really I'd rather just warm things up than cook. But it should be festive. And a diabetic's menu, which as far as I know equals a strict heart-healthy regime plus no sugar.
And we suspect that our little boy is allergic to shellfish so shrimp will not be on the menu.
Oh and I'm not starting at my own house -- Christmas Eve with one grandma then Christmas Day with the other. Halfway across the US from home.
