ISO birthday cakes.

It's my boyfriend's roommate's birthday this Friday, and I wanted to pick up a cake for him somewhere, as I don't have enough time to make one myself (and I like to keep on his good side, as I'm over fairly frequently.)

Last year, I picked something up at Sweet Lady Jane. Since I wasn't too sure of his tastes, I ended up getting 6 slices from different cakes, so that he could have a variety. He enjoyed this tremendously, and I'd like a repeat performance.

I've done a search on citysearch, as well as on this board, and would love some further help. My caveat is that I'd like the bakery to be located between Westwood and the Farmer's Market/Grove at 3rd and Fairfax (as that's my drive home from work - if there's a decent one in the Beverly Hills area, that'd be great, as I have some errands to run there that afternoon). If it's open past 6, even better, but I know that might be too much to ask for.

I'd just like a cake. Nothing overly fancy or elaborate or pricey. I can't tell which bakeries on Citysearch actually have cake and which don't. If not cake, then some nice French-style pastries would do the trick as well, or good cupcakes. Or any other ideas for a good birthday treat. My fall-back plan is Sweet Lady Jane again, but I'd like to get him something from somewhere else.

Thanks in advance!
