Opening day yesterday, close to home, worth a try.
Decor - they tried to clean and spiff up the place - a decent effort - utilitarian, and as bright as they could probably make this space.
Cash only for now, and not even any cups for water/beverages yet. If you want a drink, it comes out of the refrigerated case.
The menu has a lot of selections - I chose 2 to go. 1 - Kalua Pig. A generous (quite generous) portion of shredded pig over rice with macaroni salad. Other than the bite of macaroni salad I ate (harmless, but not my thing - I should always ask these Hawaiian places to keep their macaroni salad) - it was very tasty.
2 - I also ordered a Chicken Katsu salad. The chicken was fine, the salad was shredded iceberg, with some pale tomato dices, and croutons. I opened the "mystery dressing" and it was tartar(esque) sauce, which I found to be quite odd.
Several people were eating when I came in, and a few others arrived while I was waiting for my food. There were a couple of sauces on the counter, which I should have sampled, but didn't.
Although I wouldn't order the salad again, I'll definitely return, and it just felt "less chain-like" than L&L and its related offspring.
