Irving Street yuppification?

We were nosing around Irving Street Sunday and noticed that "Shandong Xiaoguan" (can't remember what the English sign called it) at Irving & 24th was gone. This was a favorite hole-in-the-wall spot of my Sunset District sister-in-law's. In its place was a trendy looking Japanese noodle joint called "SO" with pricey noodles and a menu all in English.

On a maybe not unrelated note, a couple of the "dollar" stores in the 25th and Irving neighborhood were featuring boxed Pannetone (Maina and one other brand) at $1.99 for the large box. (
