Late night dinner. Superb Sopa di Pollo, Tamal d'Elote and Tacos de Lengua. The latter, an order of 2, had more tongue than many an entree sized portion I have had. Meltingly soft. The corm tamale sweet, tender, on the line between fluffy and leaden, just perfect! OK chicken tamale. Good cold Regia beer in quarts. Dinner was $30 including tip. Very loud music!
This was our 4th or so visit to this joint. The pupusa's Mixtos con todos are an oozy mess of good flavors. The curtado is super, with an unknown to me black herb that adds tang. It is served in a separate dish which I love as the juices don't get the pupusa soggy. The sopa de Reyes is like a trip to the doctor, well better as it costs about $8.00. They had a dessert of fried something with honey sauce that was incredible. heavy as hockey pucks, no discernible flavor yet just perfect. A plate of 4 is enough for 2 to 4 people however. It is served with a corn drink that I just could not get into.
The waitress laughed when I couldn't take more than 2 tiny sips. Squid fermented in the sun in miso paste 6 month? Bring it on. Abalone liver? Bring it on. Crab synovial fluid poached to a runny softness reminicient of ray eggs but slimier.... bring it on. But that corn drink? No way!!!
