The Vavishka thread got me thinking. I lived in Iran for 2 years as a small child. I had to have my tonsils out, and was taken to a teaching hospital in Shiraz for the deed...they served some kind of soup called Osh, which I hated! Now I find out that their word for soup is ashte, or something like that...so I can't even try to find the same one I had to see if I now like it as a grownup! But...I do remember the wonderful breads they cooked on the street...the white fluffy one called Barbery (I don't know the spelling) and the brown one called something like Sangyak. Does anyone have a recipe for any of the above?
