Introduction and some questions

Hello fellow cooking enthusiasts!
I'm a stay at home mom who is homescshooling, teaching myself to cook/bake and read recipes carefully!
I have a total of 7 in our home (two over 85) and do alot of entertaining. I'd like to get better at cooking (my "perfect" looks like hosting a party without stress and actually cooking and talking at the same time).

I've bought Polpo, Sunday Suppers and Taste and Technique as a result of reading CH. My library list is MUCH longer. I'd say my thing I'm learning now is how to bake a really, really excellent pie.
I've moved from brick, to really no idea but trying, to edible, to hey - getting there, to recently selling them to a local very fancy inn, but they're nowhere near where I'm idealizing they could be.

I like the meal planning threads. Served the lemon chicken sheet pan recipe last night to about 30 people at a potluck and got rave reviews. It was beautiful and fragrant and tasted soooo awesome!

I'd like to learn to really understand basic cooking principles (braising, steaming, etc) so here I am.

So hey - do I have to read every post and wait forever at the bottom of the page to see a response to what I've written - or am I doing something wrong with my settings and notifications/follow options?
