This is not the beginning of a thread. I just finally got the details settled.
I received replies from the folks interested in the group dinner at the International Smokeless BBQ in South Philly for this Thursday night (3/27) at 7pm.
We are currently at 11 people. I went today to make the reservation and arrange for a fixed price to make it easier. We can probably add a few more if anyone wants to join us but Id like to know by Monday morning.
Here are the basics:
Well be meeting at the restaurant which is at 6th and Washington Ave. (there is a huge free parking lot). Dinner will be at 7pm.
Since their specialty is both Hot Pot (you cook raw seafood and poultry and veggies in a broth) and Barbeque (you grill meats, poultry, seafood and vegetables) on the gas grill at base of the pot) thats what we are eating. We will also have an order of Deluxe Pan Fried Noodles (with various meats and seafood). The plan is for every 3-4 people to share a pot. There is also a small salad bar with interesting Japanese and Vietnamese sauces and cold vegetable. The salad bar is included. The Hot Pots do include pieces of pork which the group will be cooking the broth. As a courtesy to those who do not eat pork, Ive suggested at a group of 3 sit together and the pork can be eliminated from their hot pot.
Beverages are on your own. They do have a liquor and beer license.
We arranged a cost of $16.00 per person INCLUDING Tax and Gratuity. No credit cards as it will make it too difficult for the restaurant.
Though the restaurant does allow smoking, in the interest of courtesy to others in the group, they will seat us in a separate section. I cannot promise smoke free. (okay, I know its called smokeless BBQ but thats the cooking method.)
Anyway, now that I had the facts, I thought Id post one last time in case others want to join in. I made a previous post which included the web site where you can read about it.
If you do, please email me DIRECT at Stevenramm@aol.com by Monday morning.
