My wife and I went to Vetri for her birthday tonight. When we received the bill, I noticed that our appetizers (almost $30 worth) had not been included. When I mentioned it to the server that collected our credit card/check, she seemed a bit taken aback, but declined to add them to our bill even though I offered her the option to do so. She just said that it was her error and that she would leave the bill as it was. So I ended up including a 25% tip. I wasn't looking to skip out on what was missed, but I did give her the opportunity to correct the error.
Now I'm wondering if I should have just added on the missing items myself and tipped on that total. Any suggestions on the etiquette for this situation?
