Was just reading this post over on Dollar Stretcher/Bank Rate about what's the best stuff to buy in February, food-wise.
The advice seems to be:
Chicken legs - instead of wings for a Super Bowl party
Asparagus and other spring greens
Mangoes - yes!!
Furniture and bedding also rounded out the list.
This is interesting because I did stock up on a lot of meat earlier this month that was on sale and chocolate in my local store/food co-op is on super sale right now. According to the article, the reason for the meat sales is because stores may have a lot of inventory still left over from the holiday and then for ramping up for Super Bowl and Valentine's Day. My freezer is filled right now with flank steak, hanger steak, ox tail, chicken leg quarters and other stuff.
I may investigate the mango theory later this week. I'm dying for them. Anyone else stocking up on sales lately?
