Just another reminder about the chowhound feedathon at the Inspiration Cafe on May 30th. We still need help in the following catagories:
1) There is room for a few more people to work Thursday at the Cafe. Please let me know ASAP, by e-mail or on the board, if you can be there on May 30th as I do not want to turn away someone in haste later on.
2) We could use as much help as you desire in preparing dishes to be served at the Cafe. I plan on smoking a few briskets. Other things that we plan on serving that can be made ahead of time are mac and cheese, cole slaw and greens with ham hocks (or something similiar). Please let me know if you want to help prepare a dish to be served. Remember, we are serving 30-35 people. Each dish does not have to feed that number, but we need that amount of food in aggregate. In other words, we can get 3 trays of mac and cheese that serve 10 people each. Deserts and other treats are surely welcome.
3) Money! We need money. Remember, the whole point of Inspiration Cafe is to serve people in a dignified manner, allowing them a relief from the usual soup kitchen/food pantry routine. I am not saying we have to go Charlie Trotter on them, but a little luxury would go a long way here. Beside, we have to pay fo everything ourselves. Some chowhounds have all ready stepped up to the plate and sent checks. Your help is so appreciated. More please!
I'll be more than happy to answer questions. I was going to link to their web site, but it is currently under construction. The following blurb is taken off their temporary home page.
